job seeker looking to relocate for work

Hi just a few questions if any one can help,

I'm on job seekers allowance since mid 2009, I live in a rural area with very little chance of employment.

I am planning to relocate to a city a.s.a.p as I didn't manage to get back into college.

money for a deposit is an issue. is there any assistance I can get to move?

also my girlfriend is a full time student and has suggested I crash with her until I save the money for my own place, I am wondering if I were to transfer my claim to cork city, would I have to prove where I'm living thus possibly bringing cohabiting into the equation?

any comments would be greatly appreciated

Peace out

Shaky.

You may be eligible to claim rent allowance in your own right. Firstly you will have to be assessed by the local council in the area you intend to move to as having a housing need. More info here Speak to your local Community Welfare Officer for more advise.

Moving in with your girlfriend will only complicate matters for you, best try and get the rent allowance for yourself. In the meantime try the CAO for late offers. Also plenty of PLC colleges in Cork.

cheers Marietta, but I fear that rent allowance maybe a pain because I have no landlord, I live with my parents. iv been offered private college but cant afford it and have been turned down by the PLC's I have applied for.

ill have to go to the welfare officer.

do you know what the process involves for transferring dole claims from county to county?
