My wife waiting for JB 10 weeks now in Gorey. Today she has got letter from local SW asking about husband work progress :) and list of places where she apply for work. She has 7 days to answer. Question is: Why they are doing this? Perhaps - intentionally - to delay? Anyway SW now or soon has to pay out arrears. Where is the point? Any suggestion? Thnx

Showing evidence of applying for work is part of the qualifying process - a person must be available for, and looking for full time work in order to claim Jobseeker's payment.

Household income details are needed to decide if your wife can be paid an extra allowance for you in her jobseeker's payment.

Some years ago when on JB I kept a small Diary of all efforts to obtain work.
Dates of application, (copies of applications, Employers name, Replies (Yes/No), Action, (follow up)
Application for courses to up-skill, evening classes attended etc.
I brought this diary along every signing day and produced it anytime Iwas asked about efforts to obtain work. It was always accepted.

Dedfinitely not 'intentionally to delay'. But asking about husband's 'progress' is wierd. Wopuld it be that you are self-employed and they want to assess your earnings on her claim?
