Jewellers that part exchange??

Might be a stupid question but are there any jewellers that take say an engagement ring in as part exchange for another ring ?? i would like to Upgrade my ring which was originally bought for €2500 nearly 6 years ago, but if i was to try and sell it would get no were near that.

You might be able to get your original ring "remodelled" - a friend got a gold ring with two diamonds reset in platinum and added a third stone
