I was recently made redundant and am claiming jobseekers benefit. I am actively seeking work, but as we all know, opportunities are few and far between. My hobby is craft work and I would like to use the extra time on my hands to make and sell my products. I would expect the venture to be profitable after a while on a small scale but certainly not to the extent that I could make a satisfactory income from it, and I will continue to seek employment. I'm not sure where this leaves me in relation to jobseekers benefit. My situation does not seem to suit the short term enterprise allowance scheme as the self employment would never provide me with sufficient income and would only ever be a part time thing, which I would be able to keep up when I (hopefully) get a job. Assuming that I cant avail of this scheme, I'm wondering if I register as self employed and proceed with my venture, will I lose my entitlement to jobseekers benefit?
