Jackie Skellys - poor customer service

Hi there,
I recently terminated my contract with Jackie Skelly's gym and abided by the terms and conditions but the direct debit was wrongly taken out of the account after the two month cancellation notice period had expired. They never answered any of my queries via phone so I called in person and was advised a cheque would be received in the post with a refund for the amount wrongly deducted. Needless to say, I havent' received the cheque. Again, after resorting to phone calls, I have been unable to get in contact with a manager and no one has returned my calls. I called my bank to ensure it had definetly been cancelled and they informed me they heard nothing from the company but in any event I was able to cancel it directly.
Any advice in getting back the month's subscription would be appreciated or if there is any agency I can report their poor customer service?
Thanks

Have you tried contacting them by letter?
I would detail your complaint fully and post by registered post. Copy it to their head office. End the letter with what you want to happen from here (eg cheque issued immediately, apology, whatever). A registered letter will mean they can't pretend they did not receive.

If it was a genuinely unauthorized debit from your account and you abided by any contracted payment term then under the direct debit scheme rules the bank should be refunding the amount taken from your account.

Good luck with actually getting a refund from the bank though.
