Jackie Skelly "cancel membership" Hygiene problems at gym

Hi All,

Joined the above gym in July 08 have paid 4 payments out of 12, I know im still in contract however I want out, reasons theres plenty, but mainly due to hygiene issues at the gym and with "Swine Flu" on the rise why would one want to use a dirty gym if ever before? maybe if I put my case to them they might listen or they might not.

They have my Credit Card and Direct Debit details, do I need to cancel my CC and Laser card to ensure they don't take anything from my account, will they reapply can I stop them, I know from pervious users once you cancel they will hit your Credit Card with the remaining fee's due.

Im all for the gym, but as said above they give me no choice, maybe I should call the health Inspectors?

Have you formally complained about all the issues?

I don't think you have any grounds for cancellation unless you have complained and they did not respond.

If you have concerns about any premises, you should report them to the Health Inspectors. Do they inspect gyms or is it just food outlets?

Thanks for the quick reply, I have not made a formal complaint but at the least I think I need to do this before anything else.

If all else fails I guess I could pay them the remaining 8 months up front without using the gym ever again, but why should I

What hygiene issues are you referring to? I am member of Jackie Skelly and find it spotless.

Probably a different branch. My JS is filthy. I've cancelled my subscription but had to give 2 months notice so I'm waiting to see if they try to charge me again next month.

I also cancelled membership due to hygiene issues which I reported numerous times - nothing was ever done about it. They tried to charge me two months but I refused to pay given that I had asked them to address specific issues which they did not!
