JA and Illness benefit

I am currently on JA and I get 80 Euro a week.
My wife works part-time as she has 1/2 carers for our daughter. She is out sick at the moment and I have been informed that my JA will be stopped while she is out sick.
Anybody any ideas if this makes sense or not.

Assuming it's the Dept who told you your JA would be stopped, they are doing it because if your wife claims for you as a qualified adult on her Illness Benefit claim, she'll receive more than 80 euro (the full qualified adult rate is 135.80pw).

You should continue to sign, even for credits, until she goes back to work and your payment can resume as before.
