... I'm still confused because I really do know nothing about cameras except the Canon FE-140 I have had for years doesn't take great pix and it's shutter delay is slow and frustrating.
What I'd really like is for someone one here just to tell me to go and buy

All I need is something very small, bit of a zoom, fast shutter delay, no
moving pix required, not much in the way of buttons to press and not too worried about the cost although the cheaper the better obviously.
I'm afraid all the technical stuff has gone over my head but on the other hand I don't want to buy another entry-level compact digital that's crap.
