Hi,
Its my first time posting on this site and from just looking threw a few threads I can see that there is a wealth of information and help to be gotten here.
Anyway I have been on Illness benefit for the past 18months suffering from depression and although I have made some progress I'm still unfit to return to work. My doctor has advised me not to return to work for the foreseeable future and has suggested that I hand in my notice as they cannot hold my position open any longer then they have done, So after talking to my CWO he suggested that I apply for Invalidity Pension. My questions on this are:
How is it assessed?
How long does it take to process?
Do I retain my Illness benefit while it is being processed or if I am refused?
Also I have payment protection on a considerably large loan that is paid out if I am not able to work due to illness will this still be paid for me if I give up my job?
Thank you so much in advance for any advice given as I literally haven't any idea what to do at this point and I am like most not in the best of a financial situation.
