Anyone got any recommendations for sightseeing/ eating out etc... any advice greatly welcomed!

fantastic city. lots of sightseeing and tourist spots. Grand Bazaar, Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern and Hippodrome and this is in the Sultanahmet area alone. Over Galata bridge you have the Galata tower. Ferries cross over to the Asian side every few minutes. we went over from near the bridge but took a ferry back to Besiktas just up a bit. Theres a street called Istiklal Caddesi and you have to see the people on it at a weekend to believe it. there's loads and loads of little restaurants just off it in side streets so you wont go hungry! Taxim Square is at the top of it and we treated ourselves to a meal on the 17th story of the Mamara hotel. wouldnt like to think what it would cost here. Drink is not cheap but its not dear either. We were there when Ramadan ended so public transport was jam packed especially the trams. are you staying in the new or old city?
