I've been thinking of trying to go as electronic as possible for my filing. But I was wondering if people can see any problems with this? I don't mind keeping the last year, but for older items I'd rather have electronic copies instead. Obviously back ups (should be one offsite and password protected) are important and will be process in place before I go mad with the shredder.

Going soft copies:Utility bills, Bank/visa documents, old insurance documents.

Will obviously keep hard copies of present insurance certs, birth cert, passport, drivers license, etc..

What about receipts for shops for returning something? Or receipts for returns for health bills when getting tax relief

In addition:
Photos/ID numbers of anything valuable in the house in case of break in.

Any other suggestions?

dont you normally need bank statement/utility bill as proof of address for some things?
