Issue with child benefit

Hi
My child benefit has been cut since july. I have three children and oldest turned 17 in october. I think what may have happened is that she was scheduled to finish school this year but instead repeated fifth year. What's the best way to deal with this? Phone call, letter? Also, child benefit had made overpayments to me at some stage, and I notified them of this and reductions had been made. I think this has been repaid at this stage but need to double check. Should the reduction automatically stop?

Just found this on citizens advice site.. So the child benefit is stopped for the summer and then will be backdated. I didn't receive any notification of this or hadn't heard about it. Hopefully will be smooth enough to get this back money.

Full-time education (aged 16 and 17)

If your child is 16 or 17 years of age and in full-time education you will get Child Benefit until June. You will not get another payment until your child returns to full-time education in September. The Child Benefit section will send you an application form in August. If your child returns to full-time education in September, fill in and return this application form. When you get your payment it will include any arrears due to you, including Child Benefit for July and August.

If you don't get a form in the post from the Child Benefit section, fill in form CB2 in September - see 'How to apply' below.

Oddly, I had been told about this by someone, but the benefit for my boy has not been stopped for the summer. He's 16 now, 17 in September. I have to sign a new form every 3 months; maybe this makes a difference?
You should contact the Child Benefit section asap, rather than assume all will be well in a few months time.
