We are just back from S.Africa (this morning) and people on the flights to and from had young children with them. Our 11 month old grandson has been to South Africa twice so his other granny, uncles and cousins can see him.
Jersey would be a flight as the sea ferry would be a long trip. South of England: Isle of Wight is very nice.

Jersey, Although i have never been my partner worked there for a few years and says its a really beautiful place, loads and loads of beaches, the pubs are very family orentated, they do great shows in the "living legend" apperantly and the weather is always lovely due to being so close to france. The people are all lovely and friendly and its a tax free island so the perfume (ect) is cheaper! Not sure about the Isle of mann or S.England.

Jersey is beautiful. I lived there for a Summer. You can do it by boat but it would mean going to Wales, driving/train throuhg England and then on the ferry from I think Southampton to jersey. Longish journey with a baby but could be broken up by stopping overnight somewhere. Be careful when booking a hotel as some are very basic and some are very over priced. Remember it is the land and rich and famous. Have a drink at the Gran hotel while you are there. They have a beautiful veranda for the weather. Search the net for hotels and reviews etc.

Lived in Jersey for eleven years and would recommend it for a holiday, but have you considered North Wales which is just a fast ferry away and has a lot of interesting things to see and do.
