a lot of great information in this site

I have went from having 20k in aib current acount making 0.25% to:

15k with investec @ 4.0% for 6 months
2K with halifax @ 7.0% while rates last
0.1k-1k per month anglo @ 5.5%
2.5k still with aib @ 0.25 (painful to close it as my credit cards are direct debits debit from there )

is this a good setup or could it be better arranged to make more interest ?

It is a pain but it is well worth it. Halifax will do a lot of it for you if you wish. I suggest you close your AIB account if you want to maximize your interest returns.
 
hi there...how many credit cards do you have? post sounds like you have a few. If yes then you are paying stamp duty on each.
 
i do have a few but my business involves buying and selling and due to ebay and paypal requiring differnt credit cards to be attached to every sellers account my cards are all necessary
 
didnt know that about separate cards for paypal/ebay etc... can bank do anything to avoid multiple stamp duties on cc's? or do you just pay stamp duty on 1 card

sorry for diverting off your original query as regards setup. Looks like you have the 20k split in correct portions. note that the 2k in hali will result in approx 8eur per month interest after dirt (100eur per yr). Hali advised me not to use the atm card to avoid stamp on the card..otherwise gain would be 60 euro per yr.

ebay permits users to have as many accounts as they wish,the only problem is each account must be validated with a credit card and the same credit card can only be associated with one account

I like to keep separate accounts for clothing /electrical goods/ etc

so far i have not found any way to avoid paying duty on multiple cards so i just pay it

( i could use 3v disposable credit cards but they expire frequently and so its not worth the hassle to renew them and buy new vouchers every 3-4 months )

(technically halifax isnt a credit card so im not sure if its liable for full stamp duty or just a portion of it )

they dont accept laser cards either which further complicates things

200 a year for stamp duty is bearable i suppose although it would be great to be able to avoid it or just pay it once
