Is this strange bank behaviour????

I recently took a trip into our mortgage providers and wanted to up our repayments on mortgage to repay a little earlier. Guy I dealt said "that was fine" blah, blah, blah but in next breath offered to lend me more money on a "top up".

Is it just me or is that a bit bolshy? My response was "I want to repay my mortgage as quickly as I can cos I don't want to owe anyone money" and he looked at me a bit strangely.

More to the point I don't my house at any extra extra risk.

The primary aim of mortgage providers is selling. I'd imagine the person you spoke to was just doing his job albeit not listening to his customer!
