Is it a bill for an actual reading or an estimated reading? Were you using your heating much - it has been unseasonably cold this spring and early summer...

im not sure if it is an estimate , the hot water is turned on at 9am turned off at 11 pm and the heating is turned on at 5pm till 11 pm ,

would really like to speak to someone who might recommend meters or thermostats

its working out at 35-40 euro a week

Why do you have hot water on constantly. That seems very wasteful.
That's a long time for heating to be on too. I'm changing to gas, that's very reasonable for that usage.

Your previous reading was estimated,and could have been low due to the freezing nature if March this year.Also,to echo other responses,could you not have the hot water coming on am for showers etc,and afternoon for water for food prep,washing up etc.Do you need more hot water than that?

I got my Flogas bill today for a 63 day period, similar to yourself. My charges are as follows;

unit charge = 4.4141 cent/kWh
carbon tax = 0.37 cent/kWh
standing charge = 21.17 cent/day

1,473 kWh = €83.80 + VAT 11.31 = €95.11 total due.

You have used 4,634 kWh of gas, compared to my usage of 1,473 kWh.

I don't have the hot water on from 9am to 11pm, an hour maybe max per day, and the water is piping hot. For that period, the heating was on maybe 3 hours a day max, I wouldn't sit in a cold home by any means either. Heating on 5pm to 11pm seems excessive to me. Considering that, your bill is reasonable for your usage, just cut down on the hours your water heating and heating is on.
