Is there a Statute of limitation to contest a will?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a staute of limitation to contest a will? Also, if you have already accepted an inheritence under the terms of a will, can you contest what you were left 11 years later?

I'd appreciate any information anyone may have!

Time limits in Probate actions are very tight. Anything from 1 year to 12 years depending on the type of action. Of which there are numerous.

Unless you were a minor and therefor disadvantaged why on earth would you contest an inheritance left 11 years ago? Where would any money you feel you were due come from at this late stage? And a Court would be interested in the reason for leaving it so late.

I am one of six siblings and when my aunt died 11 years ago she left two- thirds of her property to my brother and myself and the other third to be sold and divided between all six siblings. Now my brother and I are planning to sell the rest of the property we inherited and two of my siblings are threatening to go to court to get some of the profits. I just wondered if they had left it too late to contest my aunt's will especially as they had already accepted their share of the money when the third of her estate was sold 11 years ago.

I suspect they have no case but I am constantly amazed at clients who just "want". Whatever. They have a hazy notion of being somewhat discombobulated by something or other, some time or other, they voice that, someone else encourages them to think they have a case and next thing they are sitting in a solicitors office wanting results there and then. Insisting that ( as I say) "shurely shomebody should be doing shomething about this!" Sometimes, it is exhausting trying to persuade clients that they have no case.
