Is there a need for a (builder controlled) mgt co on a freehold housing est.

Is there a need for a management company on a housing estate with freehold owned houses(no apartments)?

Why might the builder be still involved in the company, all the houses have been sold?

Can the management company be wound up, or can the builder stop that happening?

Last year I was in contact with the council they were happy to take in charge the estate!

I'm totally confused about whats going on, nobody seems to have straight answers regarding this company. The agent quit the estate two years ago. the two directors don't seem to have a clue about whats going on.

Firstly I would suggest you edit your title to be more specific or the mods might lock the thread.

Are the council willing to take over all costs? Many won't do grass cutting or landscaping for starters.

How is the builder involved? Is he a director? Who are the directors? When was your last AGM?

Both directors have links with the builder, one more so than other.

The builder is not listed as a director but one of the directors tells me he controls the management company.

The council will not pay for grass cutting or landscaping.

We have a residents association set up for that but this is powerless as long as management company exists.

We are due an AGM soon, last one 2008.

I feel the management company places an unnecessary burden on all houses a residents association would not.
