Hello,

Is there a legal requirement for a management company to tender for letting agents every 3 years or so ?

My current management company hired one of the directors son in law to be the letting agent.

They have not declared a connected party in the annual accounts (which i think they should have) and also not moved letting agents for many years.

Is there any legislation requiring this ?

Thanks

I would presume that the issue of changing the management agent would be raised and discussed at the management company AGM. Do you attend the AGMs?

You don't have to change management agents but the option should always be there. We were with the same agent for six years. We then sacked them between AGMs because they were no longer working in the development's best interest. (I am a director of our MC with no connections to any management agents)

The power to fire and hire agents is in the directors remit but if you have an issue have it raised as an agenda item at the AGM and vote on it.
