When I was a young man, credit card companies took their time paying a business money that was owed. Is this still true in the age of electronic payments or is settlement immediate?

Edit: This would probably be a payment through paypal or worldpay or realex. The T&C on those sites don't say that there is a delay, but to be sure...
It actually depends on who your payment provider is and they have various criteria depending on your type of business and how long you have been established, your businesses credit history, etc
It can be anything from the day after you upload your transactions up to about 3 months.
eg Worldpay will accept anyone without credit checks, so will take longer to pay you.
