i know tax bands changed/income levy introduced etc.

but I feel that the tax paid this month seems very low.

Can anyone let me know if it seems right .

i do not want us to be in the position of owing money back.

also if the levy is 1% why has he paid the same amount for jan and feb when he lost 4 days work?

thanks in advance.

hi graham,

Off P60 year end 2008

tax credit is E6,390

SRCOP E44,400.00

For 2008 monthly Crs SRCOP are 532.50 and 3700 respectively so tax in 2008 of 384.05 would be correct in 2008 , arrvied at as follows :-
{ [ 3,700 x 20% + (4,130.62-3700) x 41%] - 532.50 }= 384.05

Can you post 2009 crs & cut off

I only have p60 dated 21 jan 09 but was under the impression the tax credits were to remain the same for 2009.

none of our pers, circs have changed

cut off €45,400

nothing from the revenue as yet

i should perhaps mention that my main concern is the feb pay with the very low tax, this pay period he was put on a 4 day week until further notice.

What's happened is he is now under his SRCOP of €3,783 for the month so there is a refund in Feb of some of the 41% tax deducted in January. That is why Feb is so low. Normally tax in a month now would be €137.31.
{ [ 3,349.04 x 20% - 532.50 }= 137.31

Correct, the I/Levy is based on Jan pay levels on Feb payslip. Not sure how employer arrived at that. If using payroll software would calc correct and if using manual cards might get tax right but might have just read prev income levy & got that wrong. Should check with employer on that.

hi, yes thanks for that re the levy, i assumed the pay office must have just used last months figures ~ will get hubby to chase that up asap, bad enough the shorttime without the government getting an extra tenner!!!lol!!!
