Thanks for that Clubman, but if the person concerned does not get wage slips and has to mither for same and a P60, is there any way of finding out if they are paying tax without dropping anyone in it???Not a silly question but the answer is no. You need to check your payslips and P60 and maybe even check with Revenue directly to make sure that things are all correct.
BrenG sorry - beg, plead etc etc...Has to mither!!!
The employee is legally entitled to receive and the employer is legally obliged to issue payslips and P60s. Failure to issue these should be reported to Revenue and/or the DETE employment rights section and the tax/PRSI status should be checked with Revenue/Social Welfare respectively. Ultimately though it's the individual's responsibility to ensure that their tax affairs/payments are kept up to date even if the employer is not playing by the rules. Thanks for that Clubman, but if the person concerned does not get wage slips and has to mither for same and a P60, is there any way of finding out if they are paying tax without dropping anyone in it???

In that case, do you think that requesting a Balancing Statement (P21?) from revenue be the best course of action then? The employee is legally entitled to receive and the employer is legally obliged to issue payslips and P60s.
