is redundancy going to be affected by budget

Hi there,
My husband is going to be made redundant in January, its not in paper yet but it is going to happen. My question is do you think the government will scrap redundancy payouts>? My husband will only get the basic payout, however his boss cant afford it, bascially company going bust, so it will have to go through the government. Or do you think the 600 cap will be reduced, he only has a few years and every penny counts so wondering what your thoughts are on this..

I would be hugely surprised if the Government do anything which would involve reducing the amount of money an individual would get on Statutory Redundancy. I have recently been made redundant myself & I couldnt believe I had to pay levy @ 6% on my redundancy payment in addition to tax. Some tax can be claimed back through topslicing next year, but to y knowledge none of the levy can be claimed back. Pls correct me if I am wrong.
