Is jewellery cheaper in NI than the South?

vat in NI is 17.5%, vat in ROI is 21%. I would say on that basis alone an identical item in the North will be cheaper

I couldn't speak generally but I recently bought a D&G watch and had checked the price in a jewellers in Monaghan was €180. Then looked in Armagh where it was £99 (€145) I evenutually purchsed it in a discount jewellers in the outlet centre at junction one in Antrim for £69(€102) so it was certainly worth my while shopping around. If you know exactly what you want why don't you try phoning around just to see. If you want the number of the jewellers in junction one let me know and I'll see if I can get it.

Bennetts Jewellery shop, Hill Street is very reasonable. Manager will often give discount and is ver decent.

We bought all our engagement/wedding rings in Jack Murphys jewellers in newry. We found them to be much more reasonable compared to the south and the choice on offer for the price range was much wider and higher quality.
Hope that helps,Michelle.

You are well named.

Thanks to the rest of you for the comments, good idea to pick an item down South & ring around........

Good one - :D. I lived in England for a few years, gold was generally 18k there as standard (as opposed to 9k here ) - we bought our wedding rings there and safed a few bob, so maybe it's the same up north.
