Is it worthwhile getting VW serviced at VW garage?

VW charge an arm and a leg for servicing our car but since we might be selling it in the next year or so is it worthwhile maintaining our up to now continuous VW service history - or does it really make a difference to resale price and could we just get it done cheaply elsewhere? Its an 8 year old car BTW but low mileage so worth something I hope!

at this stage of the cars life it wont matter as such if its not done at a VW garage, but it would be nice to get it done at a good independent and keep the service book stamped and up to date.

other than that, buy all the parts you need in a motor factors, keep the receipts and put them with the service history and get a decent mechanic to do it as a nixer. that way your still keeping a record of the service and proof of work carried out as such.

you could also try getting some quotes from VW dealers north of the border.
