I have a semi-solid maple floor that has gotten worn and grubby looking in places like the back door enterance. Is it possible to give it a light sand and varnish to try and restore it? Did anyone ever try?

Don't know what a semisolid floor is, but we clean our woodblock floors with a mixture of 75% white spirit and 25% boiled linseed oil and then put danish oil on them. The oil takes quite a while to dry but gives a nice sheen finish.

semi-solid is more like a laminate flooring, i'm not sure if I go to sand it that it will break up on me...

I have semi-solid floor and have it sanded and varnished and it came up as new. Semi solid has layer of solid wood on top of a base of I think MDF.I know that the sales person told me you could sand the floor about three times and after that there was a danger you would have sanded of all the solid wood and be down to the base.
