AIB Is it possible to claim back over-payments made to our mortgage?

Like many I'm sure I've made over-payments on my mortgage over the years. I made lump sum repayments and have also overpaid my mortgage weekly for a period of two years. This was before I realised that I was going to be put on a tracker rate. Obviously I would never have made these extra repayments had I been on a cheap tracker rate all along.

Has anyone corresponded with AIB about this issue?

This has come up a few times and I am not sure how it was resolved.

If you had been on a tracker of ECB +1.55% , then maybe it would have made sense to pay it down?

However, if you are thinking of trading up, then you would not pay down a cheap tracker.

As you are in the 300 Cohort, you can make a claim to the Appeals Panel and if they reject it, you can go to the Ombudsman.
