Hello,

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I have researched and cannot appear to find an answer, but would it be possible to buy land through my pension funds?

If so, would I also be able to develop some of the land into forestry and/or let/lease the land out to a local farmer?

Thank you,

In theory YES. But the Pension Fund cannot engage in any development activity. So you cannot build on the land. You could lease out the land.

Forestry is okay as long as you contract out the planting to a professional forestry services company. Usual rules for self-administered pension funds apply: everything must be at arm's length. So you must buy the land on the open market from someone unconnected to you. If you lease the land to a farmer, the farmer must also be unconnected to you. The lease would need to be properly documented.
