Is it better to exhange euros in europe or exchange back in USA?

I am in Germany and going home to the USA. I have a large amount of euros. Is it better to exchange them here to dollars in Germany or back in the USA?

US banks generally offer rubbish exchange rates so Id clear it up before leaving. It depends also on whether you think the usd will weaken.
