Is insurance compulsory with Ryanair

When booking with Ryanair are you forced to pay for insurance even though you may have travel insurance already. I was about to book when the price of insurance €10 per person was added.

no it is not compulsory you can tick a box during the booking procces to say you do not require the insurance

No. Travel insurance is a waste of money. I self-insure myself every time I travel. So far I'm way ahead

It's not like those package holiday companies that used to force you to buy their insurance. Do they still do that? (I told them to stuff it and their package too...)

They force you take out insurance but it need not be theirs but they will charge you an administration fee if you don't take theirs which works out to be almost as much as their insurance in the first place.
