Is Govt duty on chequebooks refundable?

Hi
Possibly closing current ac with present bank, joint ac, two chequebooks (I don't know why..wasn't thinking straight that day!).
Is it possible to get a refund for the unused chequebook or avoid being charged again, if we get chequebook with new bank/new current ac?

I vaguely remember getting a refund on unused IR£ cheques after the euro changeover, so on that basis you should get a refund.

Yes. Just hand back your unused cheques to your bank and you should get refunded immediately.
