My son owns a property in Ireland but lives in Australia with us. In the case of his death he would want the property to go us (his parents), Would a will written in Australia specifically mentioning the Irish property be accepted in Ireland or would he need an "Irish Will" and if so what does an "Irish Will" mean?

A will made in Australia that is valid in Australia will be valid here too. An irish grant would have to be extracted.

Incidentally if your son is unmarried and has no children his property would automatically pass to his parents without a will.
