Is an ARF part of estate for inheritance tax threshold?

I understand from various websites that an ARF left to adult children is taxed at 30% income tax. Is this independent of the 335K inheritance tax threshold?

e.g. if there is one adult child and the ARF is 150K and the rest of the estate is another 150K, is the full 300K completely tax free (because under 335K)? Or is the 150K ARF value taxed at 30%?
Thank you.

It’s independent of the threshold.

So if all the parent had was a €150k ARF, it’d still be taxed at 30%.

As long as the adult child is over age 21, it is taxed at 30%. If under 21, CAT applies.

If ARFs are taxed for children inheriting over age 21, what kinds of assets are in the 335k tax free threshold? Property and cash?

Does this one should try and use as much of the ARF at later life?

Everything else basically…

What's the status of an occupational scheme/PRSA/AVC PRSA wrt to CAT i.e. prior to conversion to an ARF?
It counts.

But tax-free if inherited by a spouse, obviously.

There are separate rules to consider though, e.g. PRSA/Personal Pensions paid into the estate, then the whole “4 times salary” stuff with an occupational scheme.

Does anyone know if the "4 times salary" payout to a spouse is subject to taxation?
