Is a quotation binding?

Hi,

I have received a written quotation from a well known company for about 2k worth of furniture. A 10% discount was applied but on reading the quotation it apperars that they inadvertantly applied the discounty twice, i.e. it was discounted by 10%, then the reduced amount was again discounted by 10%. I am supposed to get back to the company and confirm the order by giving credit card details and I don't intend to say anything about this mistake. However, just wondering if the company notice their mistake, can they renege on the quotation, or are they bound to honour the quoted price?

Re: Is a quotation binding??

If it was a genuine mistake, I wouldn't think that they would have to honour it, but they could offer you a compromise, they might not even notice

If they overcharged you and you didn't notice it do you think it would be ok for them to say nothing?

Is there an E&OE (Errors and Omissions Excepted) or something else in the quotation/invoice small print that would cover them for applying the correct (single 10% discount) price?

If you write back saying you accept their quoted NET price, and ask them to confirm again, then its ok.
