Hi All

Firstly I hope I'm posting on the right thread and secondly I know this subject has been discussed a million times but I'm hoping somebody can clarify definitively. I will be 66 in 2029 and will be covered force full UK SP when I'm 67. I have 479 Irish credits for the years I worked in Ireland before I moved to the UK. I know there's a 520 min credits needed however I've seen posts on various sites saying that the contributions from either country can be used to top up the total when needed.

I've also seen posts saying that the 520 is non- negotiable.

Any information would be really appreciated. Thank you.

Is it possible for you to get the 41 missing credits by working?

You could take up employment or self employment in Ireland.

Hi London Celt,

You might investigate if you can backpay Irish Class S voluntary contributions. It might be a long shot, and it might be expensive. They might require you to pay all missing years to bring you up to date. Perhaps they might let you just fill the missing contributions to bring you up to the 520 minimum contributions.

Perhaps people with more knowledge of Class S contributions might roll in here and share their knowledge.
