For anyone who is planning to book any train journeys online be aware that the information is not always correct.

This morning I checked the Irish Rail website to verify the times for a train journey to Dublin to see that the first and second trains were full: (All Seats Taken icon [broken link removed] was displayed against each train).

We decided to go to the train station anyway to book a seat for the following day only to find that there as a huge number of seats available. My mother-in-law and daughter actually had a full carriage to themselves.

The thought of my mother-in-law staying with us for another day due to a website error at Irish Rail is too much to contemplate

Re: Irish Rail Website Mis-Information

I think IR only make one or two coaches per train available for booking, the rest is always available for walk-ins. It's an odd policy, especially since they don't advertise it.

I think the only exception are specials for gaa matches but I could be wrong.
