labrokers are offering an Irish Life PRSA with 0% entry charge and a management fee of 1% for their 'consensus fund.'

Sounds too good to be true. Does anyone have an opinion on Irish Life PRSA pensions?

Fund choice is very limited and may not suit everyone's taste. Consensus fund is a passively managed fund - simply tracks the performance of other Irish managed funds and attampts to follow it. This may or may not suit your needs.

If it does, this is a good deal from a well-regarded and reputable broker.

P.S.

I have no connection with LA Brokers.

Consensus fund won some award earlier this year as one of better performing funds.

Its a low to medium risk type fund.

Careful

Be wary of fund management industry awards as they are largely self serving marketing opportunities.

I'd be careful referring to the Irish Life Consensus fund as low to medium risk, as this could be seen to suggest that the possibilities for the fund going downwards are low (to medium). Not so. As the Consensus Fund tracks other Irish Managed funds, it can go down as well as up as foten as the average Irish Managed Fund.

If the Irish Managed Fund industry gets optimistic about equity returns and increases their equity weightings, the Consensus Fund could well become a medium to high risk fund.

Re: Careful

Just to be clear, the 'follow-the-herd' approach for the consensus fund applies to the regional balance and the equity vs cash vs property weightings only, if I recall correctly. Within a given market, they simply track the major index for that market.
