ipod just stopped working. Blank screen. No life out of it. Have plugged into charger but nothing happens. Any ideas?

Which iPod is it?

Apple have their "5Rs" for iPods and to be honest, even though basic steps they do tend to work in most cases. However, it differs from model to model.

http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/

That's the general iPod support page, if you select the model you have it'll take you through basic troubleshooting.

If they don't work it's back to the shop if it's still in warranty. If not...well, that's where WEEE comes into play.

Sounds like what happened to mine WJC and after much
assistance from this board it still stayed dead.Apparently
after 18 months the battery dies and you have to replace
it.As this required 'soldering' on my machine and studying
u tube videos of how to replace it I broke a connection
and ended up buying a new one on ebay. You can send it
off to be professionally done which should work.Good luck.

What you need to do is press the centre of the shuttle wheel and the top of it (marked "Menu") simultaniously for about 7 seconds, and the ipod will shut down and restart. Simple as that!
