Ipod connector on a 2008 Passat

I have the Ipod connector in the glove compartment on a 2008 Passat tdi.

The manual instructs you to plug in the Ipod and it should be detected automatically.

I've connected it securely, but it's not being detected on the radio - the ipod itself powers on so it's getting a connection.

Any ideas?

Thanks..

If you set the radio function to CD and connect the Ipod with the connector to AUX connection, this should work. (Works on 2008 audi, could be different for VW).

I've tried setting to CD, but I get the error = 'No cd inserted' or something similar..

That sometimes happens to me in my 2008 Skoda Octavia. So, I press the CD button a second time and sometimes a third time until it detects my iPod.

Is there a button on your radio that says "AUX"? On my Skoda it has to be set to Auxillary or else it wont work. It should say "Auxillary On" on the screen. Thats what the Skoda does anyway, they should be fairly similar.

There's no button with AUX - I checked under 'Setup' and there's no option for AUX or anything to detect a device as far as I can see.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Can anyone else help?
