Investment with lloyds

My Father was telling me how his Father invested with llyods bank in the early 1900's and can always remember him say the money is gone, my father thinks it was to do with the wall street crash.
Is there any way I could find out if he had money invested with llyods in the early 1900's any help would be appriciated.
