Hi

Thinking of dipping my toe into UK buy to let market . Does anyone have any good / bad experiences with buying / renting out property in stg50k to 80k bracket mainly in northern England . There seems to be a lot of property in this bracket but I'm a bit wary so any and all advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

No real experience but just be aware of the Council tax costs. can add quite a bit to your monthly repayments while the property is not being rented out. Its a cost you really need to factor in - can be over £1000 per year.

the buy to let market is supposed to be in a bad state in uk , people having trouble renting and low yields, many of the banks in england wont lend to buy to let landlords as many have gone bust in last year.do a google search on btl /buy to let etc and you'll see, property prices have fallen in many parts of uk in last 12 months etc, do a lot of research and if you buy make sure it's got great location near to colleges etc where you can be more sure of getting rent.

Hi Comraid

I have done this. I have a number of properties in North of England. My experience has been very good, my rental cash yields are in double digits, i have achieved significant appreciation which i have used to pull cash out of my deals - the previous poster is right though - i did a lot of research before i spent a penny - in fact i used my entire holidays from a couple of years ago to visit the market, talk to the locals, meet bankers, lawyers, property managers and sourcers etc.
If you do this, there is plenty of opportunity over there - Go for it!
