I'm looking into Investing in Whiskey Cask via Tomoka Fine and Rare. Has anyone any experience with them?

Hello,

While I've no direct experience, you're talking about getting imto a very specialist type of asset, so unless you've a large diversified spread of investments, I'd recommend against investing in whiskey.

I've heard a lot of experienced investors talk about whiskey, and some even say it's great, just increases in value as it agrees, but in reality - few really know anything about it, and it's exposed to specific legislative / regulatory controls, that could have a massive impact on value etc.

I've been cold called by similar people on the past. You have to buy the whiskey, pay for it's storage and insurance, and then sell it back to the producer when they seem it ready for bottling. It's also an unregulated investment with no protection. Seems a bit biased towards the interests of the seller rather than the investor. Lot of risk, low liquidity (even if it is a liquid) and similar returns available elsewhere

And all that is before you consider MrEarl's points about diversification within your portfolio.

It would only be around 1% of my total portfolio. Getting to the stage where I am looking for more interesting / higher potential investments
