Hello, I am about to rent out my apartment (which I just can't sell!). I am wondering if anybody has a comprehensive list of questions I should be asking potential tenants.

Cheers

Hi

From previous experience i find using a letting agent the best option.I msut admit i did want to do it myself but it became hassel waiting on people to come and view. Some turned up and some did not.Depending on where it is i used Lowe in tallaght justin is hos name. They will take a months rent but they will find you a tenant for ayear or so.I have had my tenant for 2 years.he is from poland always has rent in on time.I also have a house rented In Lucan and athy for both i got letting agents.it does save you time and hassel. If you do decide to do it on your own.

verify a ref
get a months deposit
do a check on propery every 3 months give plenty of notice.
with social welfare you are guarnteed your money.
do a list up of every thing you have supplied and take a pic of place before you let it.
good luck

I deal with Lowe in Tallaght also (also Justin ), and I have found the service well worth it in terms of reduced hassle. Everything is organised, and an agent will negotiate future rent increases also, so for peace of mind and less hassle, I'd recommend the letting agent route
However if you would prefer to keep the money but put up with the hassle, then there is no reason you can't go it alone, but remember you need to advertise, vet tenants etc, register with PRTB and prepare lease contract, and be the first point of contact if anything goes funny with the house, so....your choice
