Internship not Job bridge

Does anyone know if an internship can be arranged between an employer and prospective employee outside the Job bridge scheme.
I'm thinking of trying to get a part time internship to improve my skillset to make me more employable as a PAYE worker.

I wouldn't qualify for the job bridge scheme and I'm wondering if I could just arrange my own version of an internship ?

You might find it difficult to retain JSB as DSP may question if you are available for work. If you can provide evidence of job searching you should be ok though.

Yes, absolutely they can. Company I work for does this on a regular basis.

Well then it's a private arrangement, no issues with this at all.

DSP is supposed to facilitate this but it often doesn't percolate down to local office in my experience. As long as you are available for work and there is no payment. In fact some places may pay bus far and lunch which is considered fair for volunteers but would need to be on basis of receipts
