My son is part time employment at a minimum wage. He has recently graduated from college. He is now looking to develop his career.

He has been offered a 6 month internship at no pay.

If he gives up his part time work to persue this intenship, will he be entitled to social welfare? If he is what would be his entitlement?

Appreciate any help in this.

From a short look at the information on the web, it appears that you need to be out of work and claiming benefit before you can apply for the job bridge scheme.

Have a look here

I was of the understanding that you had to be in receipt of a social welfare payment first before applying so may not be suitable for your son, but have a read of the site.

edit: posts crossed....
