Internet very slow when clicking on links

I have U.tv broadband and whenever I click on a link that brings up a new internet explorer window it takes 20-30 seconds for it to launch, whilst up to a couple of weeks ago it took only a second or two.
When the link opens up in the same Internet Explorer window it brings the new page up straight away.
Likewise if type in an address e.g. www.yahoo.com it takes 10-15 seconds while if I type http://www.yahoo.com its much quicker.
Anyone know whats going on?

I doubt that it's anything to do with your broadband connection. You can easily narrow it down to an IE specific problem by trying another browser such as FireFox. Have you done the usual checking for nasties? Do you run a firewall, virus scanner and adware scanner?
