internet purchase from Dell

I purchased two Dell Vostro 1220 Laptops and specified win 7 ultimate which is extra becasue I wanted bitlocker encryption for security. It turned out the 2 laptops didnt have a necessary h/w component to run bitlocker security (TPM) I did verify the quote when it was sent and revceived the laptops. Its only after I got the laptops and tried turning on bitlocker that I realised it wouldn't work. They are refusing to take them back. Do I have a case on not fit for purpose or on 7 day cooling off period for purchase over the internet.
 
If I understand you, Dell sold you systems that don't have the capacity to run software that they supplied as part of the package. To my mind, that's a no-brainer: goods not fit for purpose; you have a right to reject them.

But ... I had a similar issue with Dell some years ago, when a system would not run software that was bundled with it. I got my money back, but I had to battle hard for it. I am generally good at asserting my consumer rights, and this was the only time in my life that I needed the help of a solicitor in order to do so.

bitlocker is present in Vista and 7 no matter what the specs of the PC are.
the ability to use it or not depends on the hardware.. im afraid you should have checked bitlockers requirement before purchasing.
unless the PC was advertised as 'comes with bitlocker' I dont think you stand a chance.
having said that, i thought every purchase made online has a cooling off period in which you can return it if it doesnt match your needs..
