Internet connecting with Firefox only

I can't connect to the internet with Internet Explorer only with Firefox, yet when I log on as a different user (same laptop) I can connect with IE. Anyone know why?

Check your IE connection settings. I fixed an infected PC recently where some dubious toolbars had set IE to connect via a LAN instead of directly. Once I unclicked the LAN option, IE was fine.

Somethings obvious different between both profiles. I'd also suspect something you've installed like a toolbar.

If you have a later version of IE, you can go to Start->All Programs->Accessories->System tools and choose, "IE with no add-ons"

If it connects fine without add-ons enabled then start uninstalling your toolbars in the normal mode and see if that makes a difference.

To uninstalling a toolbar, in IE go to tools->manage addons and disable the toolbar that you want to remove.
