hi,went to pay off the visa card via internet banking,but put 500 euro into esb billpay by mistake ,does anyoe know if they would put the money back into my account if i ring them up as our bill would never exceed 100 euro,stupid mistake i know but was answering a phone call at the time and lost concentration,thanks

As I understand it, the bank does not have any legal right to take the money back from ESB. It is now a matter between yourself and the ESB, and if you want to get it back, you must contact them.

I did something similar paying an o2 bill online. I accidentally typed 700 euro instead of 70. Contacted the bank and they said to ring o2. O2 refunded the excess amount to my account within 5 days i think, I had no hassle with them, so hopefully ESB will be the same.
