Have a nice little Eee PC laptop that I have used at home very happily for the last 18 months or so - mainly for surfing / email on a wireless router. Recently I can't access email (GMAIL) and a some other sites (Paddy Power!).

However I can access the likes of www.rte.ie - I have a laptop from work and have no problem getting onto GMAIL, Paddypower etc etc from the exact same location using the same router.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.......whatever the hell has happened it just a recent thing.

Did you install any new software on the PC recently? What browser are you using?

Did you try clearing and removing your temporary internet files, clearing the cache and deleting cookies?

Failing that try install another browser and see can you access the websites in question. If you can, you might have to uninstall and reinstall your favourite web browser.

My sister had a similar problem - she has eircom broadband and has an old PC .

She could access Facebook , but was unable to access Gmail among others .

She had recently upgraded browser from Internet explorer 6 or 7 to IE8 .

She has now re-installed the operating system again and is using IE7 -

So far all websites are working ok.
